AKOG Structure
ALUMNI
AKOG’s alumni includes former Girls, Junior Mentors, and Mentors. To get involved, join our mailing list, tell us about a major life event, attend an event, come talk to AKOG, or contribute to the AKOG Fund!
STEERING COMMITTEE
The Steering Committee is an egalitarian group of mentors who take on additional leadership responsibilities in order to run the day-to-day operations of AKOG. The group meets weekly to plan events, coordinate activities, and guide the direction of the non-profit.
GIRLS
Our Girls Program is our largest program, with approximately 90 people registered annually. Girls meet every Saturday for theme days and field trips that foster positive social connections with their mentors and their peers. To register, click here.
ADVISORY BOARD
The Advisory Board is a select group of professors, professionals, and community leaders invited by the Steering Committee to be an extension of AKOG. We use their unique perspectives and helpful advice for any input we might need throughout the year. The board formally meets with the Steering Committee twice a year, and members provide an advisory role on specialized matters, such as professional development and problem solving, throughout the year.
JUNIOR MENTORS
Our Junior Mentor program provides a more mature focus for our older AKOGers. Junior Mentors meet every Saturday to discuss issues that are relevant to their own lives, while taking on a leadership role that reflects and builds on their past experiences as a Girl and their future experiences at school and in the workforce. MENTORS
Mentors are a key component of AKOG and crucial to the success of our mission. A group of Clark University undergraduate women meet with Girls on Saturdays and foster relationships with the Girls while facilitating activities. Mentors share their experiences and provide input to Steering Committee through the follow-up meetings that occur at the end of every Saturday.
